Fue entregado el corredor de Metroplús de la calle 12 Sur, obra que se realizó en un tramo aproximado de 1.6 kilómetros entre las avenidas Guayabal y Regional.

La puesta en marcha de la vía se constituye en un eje de conexión multimodal entre Medellín, Envigado e Itagüí para priorizar la movilidad sostenible e incluyente en beneficio de los ciudadanos y del planeta.

metroplusLos trabajos permitieron hitos importantes como la ampliación de la vía, que pasó de dos a tres carriles en las calzadas Norte y Sur. Así mismo, se conformó un lazo vial de cinco carriles en el sector que conecta a la 12 Sur con la Avenida 80 para facilitar el flujo vehicular.

Otro logro destacado fue la construcción de un soterrado peatonal de 60 metros de longitud.

Con el proyecto se intervinieron 30.000 metros cuadrados de espacio público que incluyen urbanismo, seis módulos estacionarios para venteros y nuevos andenes para integrar a Medellín e Itagüí. También se realizó la modernización de todas las redes húmedas y secas del sector.

“Con alegría Medellín, Itagüí y Metroplús podemos decir que estamos entregándole a la comunidad una obra más para mejorar la movilidad y la integración al Metro, al metro de la 80, Metroplús y todo lo que tiene que ver con las rutas alimentadoras de la cuenca 4. Podemos decir que otra obra que estaba suspendida se está entregando de la mano de la Alcaldía de Medellín a la comunidad itagüiseña”, indicó el alcalde de Itagüí, José Fernando Escobar Estrada.

Beneficios para la comunidad

Otro aspecto a destacar es el mejoramiento de la capacidad hidráulica de la quebrada La Jabalcona.

Se construyeron 66 módulos box culvert y muros de transición para cubrir la quebrada en un tramo de 660 metros y permitir sobre ella la conformación de los carriles para el sistema Metroplús.

Como parte del componente ambiental se han sembrado 395 nuevos árboles de 434 que se tienen proyectados, lo que también constituye a la 12 Sur en un corredor ecológico para el beneficio de especies de fauna.

La obra beneficia a cerca de 250.000 personas y permitió la generación de 108 empleos. Los próximos retos, en el futuro cercano, están relacionados con la construcción de las nuevas estaciones.

La inversión en este proyecto, que contó con la participación del Ministerio de Transporte y las alcaldías de Medellín e Itagüí, fue de $45.000 millones.
