Durante el proceso de excavación para la construcción de una caja eléctrica en el proyecto de la Aguacatala se encontró un pozo para extracción de aguas subterráneas denominado “Aljibe”, el cual, según el arqueólogo Juan Pablo Díez, funcionaba como filtro o depósito subterráneo de agua.
Este elemento por sus características, forma, tamaño, profundidad y materiales, data del periodo quinto republicano. Su valor histórico radica en la posibilidad de acercarnos a técnicas arquitectónicas de épocas pasadas, permitiéndonos entender fenómenos sociales como la salud pública asociada a la potabilidad del agua.
El hallazgo se encontró en la Calle 12 Sur con la Av. Guayabal, a una profundidad de 3 metros desde el nivel del andén y no será retirado puesto que no interfiere en el desarrollo de la obra. Sin embargo, el lugar será señalizado y registrado para que, finalizado el proyecto, pueda identificarse fácilmente su ubicación sobre el espacio público.
Este descubrimiento arqueológico se suma a las acequias, vasijas y demás fragmentos de cerámica y herramientas de piedra que hemos encontrado en el desarrollo de nuestros proyectos de Movilidad Inteligente en el Sur del Valle de Aburrá.
