Es la octava persona en ocupar el cargo máximo dentro de la entidad desde 2017. Sus principales retos serán el avance de las obras al sur del Aburrá.

a Junta Directiva de Metroplús posesionó como nueva gerente de la empresa a Katherine Manco Quiroz, la tercera persona en ocupar el cargo en el actual cuatrienio.

La joven, oriunda del municipio de Dabeiba, es profesional en Derecho y especialista en Derecho Administrativo, Gerencia de Proyectos y Contratación Estatal. Manco ha sido parte de la jefatura de la Oficina Jurídica de Metrosalud y también se desempeñó como personera, inspectora de Policía y comisaria de Familia en Buriticá. Además, ha hecho parte de varias empresas del sector privado.

Como nueva directiva de Metroplús, la gerente Katherine hará la entrega de las obras de la Calle 12 Sur y espera que bajo su dirección se culminen las obras en el Tramo 2B Envigado y el Tramo 4A Fase 1B de Itagüí.
“Nuestra gestión estará enfocada en posicionar a Metroplús como empresa líder de transporte de mediana capacidad del país, que planee y desarrolle proyectos de movilidad sostenible a nivel local, regional y nacional, con impulso urbanístico, que converjan con el medio ambiente y que propicien una mejor la calidad de vida a nuestros habitantes y usuarios (…)”, puntualizó Manco.

La llegada de Manco se da tras la renuncia el pasado 10 de mayo de Jaime Garzón, quien llegó a la gerencia en 2021 en reemplazo de James Gallego luego de un pulso por dicho nombramiento entre el alcalde de Itagüí y el de Medellín.

Durante la gestión de Garzón se destacó el destrabe en las obras de los tramos en el sur del Valle de Aburrá, que habían sufrido retrasos y abandonos por varios motivos

A diferencia del Metro de Medellín —donde las directivas tienen unos períodos más estables— en Metroplus ya son ocho gerentes en casi siete años.

En enero de 2016 llegó a la gerencia el abogado Ricardo Medina, quien estuvo hasta agosto 2017. A su reemplazo se posesionó el ingeniero César Hernández, quien fue gerente hasta julio de 2018. En agosto de ese mes, el ingeniero civil Andrés Moreno asumió las riendas hasta enero de 2020. El político James Gallego estuvo en el cargo entre marzo de 2020 y febrero de 2021. Lo sucedió Samir Alonso Jaramillo Palacios como gerente encargado hasta la llegada de Garzón, quien fue brevemente reemplazado como gerente encargado por William Gómez Ramírez.
