En los nuevos parques que trajo consigo la construcción del Tramo 2A en Envigado, además de árboles de permanencia del sector y nuevas siembras, también algunas aves se han apropiado de este espacio como un lugar seguro para anidar, conseguir alimento o simplemente estar durante un tiempo como lo hacen hoy las visitantes aves migratorias.

En el mundo hay alrededor de 10 mil especies de aves, de las cuales 2.023 están en Colombia, y aproximadamente 202 son migratorias (esta cifra contempla únicamente la migración que cruza fronteras políticas); 154 provienen de Norteamérica (boreales), 23 llegan desde el sur de Suramérica y 25 son aves marinas que viajan largas distancias, muchas veces sin tocar la costa, lo que significa que nuestro país tiene una ubicación estratégica para ellas ya que es la región por la cual deben hacer su paso, casi obligatorio, para ingresar a Suramérica.

La migración es un fenómeno natural que despierta el instinto de buscar hábitats más adecuados para la reproducción.

Siendo así como este tipo de aves tiene un papel fundamental en el medio ambiente, ya que cumple una función ecológica en las zonas por las que pasan en su viaje, así como en las que permanecen algún tiempo (áreas de cría y de invernada); estas cumplen varios servicios ecosistémicos, entre ellos: la polinización de plantas, la dispersión de semillas y el control de insectos u otras plagas.

Pese a las condiciones adversas del medio, especialmente en cuanto a contaminación del aire y al déficit espacio verde público urbano, este valle goza todavía de la presencia especial de aves migratorias que llegan desde los primeros días de septiembre y nos acompañan hasta los meses de Abril y Mayo. La alegría y colorido de su aleteo se ha visto presente en la configuración forestal de los nuevos parques del Tramo 2A en Envigado: Andalucía y Fecundidad.
